Part I

  1. In life, we can be pulled in many different directions and can find ourselves walking aimlessly without a purpose. What are some things that have been distracting you from God’s purpose in your life?


     
  2. How can you turn those distractions over to God and become more focused on His plans?


     
  3. What does having a purposeful life focused on Christ look like?


     
  4. Do you feel your attitude and behavior during athletic competitions reflects that life?


     
  5. Read Jeremiah 29:10-14. Take time with God and begin to define the purposes He has for you. Write those down and start praying for them.

  1. Define what the word influence means to you?


     
  2. How can you better influence your friends, teammates or players for Christ?


     
  3. Why is it so important to have a core group of Christian friends?


     
  4. How do you allow your friends to hold you accountable to God’s standards? 5. Do you have Christian friends outside of athletics? If not, how can you better develop those relationships?

  1. Do you feel you are investing your time in activities and deeds that matter to God? If not, how can you be a better steward of your time for Christ?


     
  2. Read the parable of the good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). What would you have done had you passed this man on the road? Why?


     
  3. Even though we are only one person, we can make a difference in the lives of others. Ask God to open your eyes to how you can impact the lives of those around you more. Write down a few names and pray for opportunities to be used in their lives.



     
  4. Do you believe that Christ was concerned about His community? Why or why not?



     
  5. How are the lessons you have learned in athletics applicable to your daily life and how you serve others? How about to your life with Christ?

  1. Do you sometimes feel like you are wearing too many different hats? If so, how can you better handle those responsibilities in a Christ-like manner? Is there something He is asking you to give up?


     
  2. What do you think it means to not take yourself too seriously? How can that mentality change the way you see God’s role in your life?


     
  3. Are you allowing your involvement within athletics make you a better Christian? How so?


     
  4. Do you make quality time for your friends and family outside of athletics? If not, begin setting aside time each week to focus on building those relationships.
