FCA University Overview |
FCA University is how we train our staff and volunteers. We are committed to training sports ministry leaders to be excellent ministers of the Gospel as they reach coaches and athletes for Jesus Christ. We do this by providing a comprehensive training program that pursues excellence. We provide specialized training such as Campus 101 (equipping people to impact the campuses for Christ), Staff 101 (empowering our staff to be better at sports ministry), Coaches 101 (training coaches biblically) and even more to come. It is the one-stop for tools, teaching and training. When we train, we will value passion, transformation, experiential learning, application and mentoring.
In the FCA University, there is Staff 101 which has three main training components:
- Tryout Training
The Tryout Training is designed to help potential staff “tryout” the ministry. They will understand our vision, mission and values. They will know what FCA does and how we do it. Also, they will develop a basic knowledge of FCA and needed skills, including how to create a team of funding partners called a Home Team.
- Rookie Training - Coming Soon
Rookie Training focuses on the time a person joins staff to the first year of employment. It contains two key training initiatives: The Fundamentals and Training Camp. The goal is to provide the staff member clarity in his or her calling to FCA and commitment to the competencies of a staff member.
- Veteran Training - Coming Soon
Veteran Training is designed to help staff members who have been on staff for more than one year. It will include training focused on helping staff advance in specific areas. Our on-going training initiatives will be offered in the regions and at the FCA National Support Center. Staff can sign up for the class (usually a maximum of 30 per class). Supervisors can recommend attending workshops after staff evaluation. Specific training workshops and modules are developed for specific areas that need to be developed.
Each training component is connected. Our goal is not to repeat parts of training but to build off of each component. There will be some repetition needed because of the importance of certain parts.
