For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
At the end of the game, the win or the loss falls on the coach. The coach receives the glory or the blame associated with the game. In the game of life, Jesus is our Coach. But, unlike in sports, Jesus can only receive glory. No blame is associated with Him because He is perfect. He is holy. He is everything that we are not.
The blame is associated with us. Each day we sin. Each day we fall short of God’s glory because He is perfect. Jesus stepped into our place and became our substitute. Because of His love for us, He chose to die on the cross to make us perfect. Only when we realize that He died so we could be free and have a relationship with God, do we truly begin to understand His glory. Only then do we realize our need for Him and that He deserves all of our glory.
1. Think of a time when you have fallen short in practice or during a game, and your teammate or coachwas there to cover your mistake.
2. In what ways do you fall short of God’s glory?
3. Why does Christ deserve all the glory in your life?
