"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
-John 14:6
The life of a young person today is much different than it was 10-20 years ago. But as our campers share this week with their Huddle Leaders, it is obvious that the same problems are still there and are big as ever. Trying to figure out what life to live proves to be troublesome for many of them.
During the Huddle times at camp one question kept coming up … Can I live one way at church and another way with my friends and at school? Basically, can I have my God and party, too? That is an interesting question. Many young people want to be true to God, but only when it doesn't cramp their style or cut into their time. "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" Jesus is the life. He lived the life. He walked the walk, talked the talk, took the nails and made it possible to have a life — eternal life.
Do you want your God and party, too? I hope not. God wants 100 percent of your life, nothing less. He is not interested in the split personality of a daytime choir boy and nighttime Tommy Boy. He wants you to follow His life. The choice life, the right life, the good life, the Godly life. All other lifestyles just don't add up to a life with Christ.
I have seen T-shirts that say such-and-such a sport is life, meaning that a sport is the most important thing. The reality is that Jesus is life and sports are just games. Soccer, tennis, volleyball, football, basketball — any sport — will not get you to Heaven, no matter how good you get. There is only one way there: a life with Christ.
1. Are you living a double life?
2. Do you live your life for Christ or everyone else?
3. Today, how can you start to live your life for and with Christ?
