"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the Gospel of God's grace." Acts 20:24
How many of you know if all your friends and family are saved? How many of you would have the nerve to simply ask each and every one of your friends and family, "If you died today, do you know 100% where you would spend eternity? My answer to both of those questions to this point would be, "No". These are questions that I spend a pretty fare amount of time thinking about, but can't muster up the courage to ask.
I think it would be easier to stand on a street corner or travel half way across the world and minister to strangers. Why is that? Am I afraid of coming off as a hypocrite because they know the things I've done in the past? Do I just assume, "They're nice people, they'll go to Heaven."? A minister friend of mine once said that, "Satan is most pleased with nice, happy, successful people who just want nothing to do with God." His reason was, that unbelievers who are happy are much less likely to find Christ than those who are struggling through trials.
What if they died today? Jesus says several times in the Gospels that there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth for people that don't make it to heaven. I can't help but think, "what if one of my loved ones died as an unbeliever and I had never tried to share Jesus with them?". I would be weeping and gnashing my teeth, wishing that I would have tried.
"What if I was their one shot?". What if I had the cure for cancer, would I keep it to myself? Would I let that oncoming bus hit them or would I push them out of the way?
Eternal life is just as important as our earthly life, in my opinoin, it's more important. The Bible says in James 4:14 that our life is a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. I don't know when my mist will vanish, but I pray for the courage to share the joy of Christ that leads to life, starting with those who are closest to me.
1. Do you know if all your family and friends have been saved?
2. What is stopping you from asking?
3. What are some ways that you can share your faith with your loved ones?
Mark 4:21
Matthew 7:14
Mark 16:15
Father in Heaven, We thank you for your grace and love that you have given us through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We pray for the courage to share our joy with others, beginning with those who are closest to us. Help us to be bold in our faith and to make others want what we have by how we live our lives. We give you all the glory. In Jesus name, Amen
