Ready:

"He has told you men what is good and what it is the LORD requires of you: Only to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God." — Micah 6:8

Set:

Why is it that we must test and prove everything we hear? It’s hard to live by faith because we want to feel in control of life. When we speculate on how many stars there are, we establish space programs to go prove it. If someone tells us that the paint is still wet, we must touch it to see for ourselves.

In today’s world men and women are bombarded with choices, and the decisions they make will deeply impact the rest of their lives. In order to make wise and life-producing decisions, people need truth. Instead, what they see all around then is cynicism and hypocrisy. What’s missing in our society is honesty, fairness, faithfulness, and humility.

Coaches learn that trust is a powerful influence in people’s lives, and it comes from living the truth. Therefore, we must always watch to see that our talk matches our walk, that our “yes” is “yes,” our “no” is “no,” and that we live the same in the dark as we do in the light. Coaches stand in a powerful position of influence, and we can be used by God to shape the lives of those on our teams. By demonstrating God’s love and the power of Christ to change lives, coaches can represent the truth needed so desperaetely by those who look to them for leadership.

Go:

1. Do you trust in God’s truth, or do you need proof before you will believe?
2. In what ways do you need to align your talk with your walk?
3. How can you make your faith more visible to your team?

Overtime:

Lord, may I know the truth of Your Word. Help me know how I can become a better image of You in the world each day. Remove any “sinicism” you find in my life. May I always—and in all ways—see all the people I coach as a gift from You, relating to them in honesty, fairness, faithfulness, and humility. With a grateful heart and trusting in Your love, I pray. Amen
