Ready:

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” -Matthew 24:35

Set:

We have all seen the shirts that say “Football is life, the rest is just details.” I used to own one of those shirts a long time ago. And football wasn’t the only sport they made into these shirts. I have seen basketball, golf, fishing and so on.

As a Christians and athletes, our shirts should say “Jesus is life, the rest is just details.” In Matthew 24:35, He says that Heaven and earth will pass away, but His words will not. This means EVERYTHING: massive stadiums, gyms, buildings, earth, etc. Jesus and His Kingdom are the only things that will remain.

In sports, we get caught up in training, practicing and competing. In life, we get caught up with trials, work, finances and business. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 that we must seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Psalm 37:4 says that we should delight ourselves in the Lord and that He will give us the desires of our hearts. Today, ask yourself if Jesus is life to you or if you let the details of this world get in the way. God wants to take first place in our lives. Even if we haven’t put Him first in our lives, He is always ready for us to put Him in the rightful place.

Go:

1. Is Jesus your first priority in life?
2. What details are keeping you from putting Him first?
3. Do you trust God to take care of the details if you put Him first?
