If you haven’t caught Lin-Sanity yet, you should probably turn on ESPN. Well, turn on any channel for that matter. It’s been featured on more than just the sports stations, even infiltrating the national news based on his incredibly fast rise to sports fame.

His name is Jeremy Lin, and he is now the starting point guard for the New York Knicks. Since he took over the starting position, the Knicks have been on fire, and Lin himself has gone crazy on the scoring end amassing a total of 146 points in just six games. His popularity has skyrocketed so high that you can’t even access the Knicks’ homepage without first going through a big banner of Lin-Sanity.

All this from a second-year kid from Harvard? Yep!

It just goes to show that nothing—absolutely nothing—is impossible with God.

For the purposes of this devo, the fact that Lin is a Christian is just icing on the cake. He’s been up-front about his personal relationship with Christ ever since he was in college. But the point today is simply to remind us that we have no idea what God has planned. What we can see and predict here on earth matters absolutely none. With God, anything goes.

Four times in the Gospels (NIV), Jesus states that nothing is impossible with God—once in Matthew, once in Mark, and twice in Luke. But I love the one in Matthew (verse 19:26) in which He says, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Looking at Jeremy Lin, you would never guess that he’s a scoring machine in the NBA. But we don’t see what God does. God—the One who created Lin—looks at him and sees a precious child He crafted with not only a courageous heart, but also with shockingly fantastic basketball skills.

Today, let’s learn a lesson from Jeremy Lin and what God has shown us through his story. We have absolutely no idea what God wants to do in our lives. We may focus on the outside appearance or on the world’s opinion, but God wants us to see what He sees: a magnificent creation formed by His hands and capable of anything He desires.

Forget what the world says. Go with what God says about you today. Remember just how powerful He is and remind yourself that nothing is impossible with Him.
