Ready:

“All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” - Acts 2:44-47 (NIV)

Set:

Have you ever tried doing something alone? Something like running, working out or even watching a movie? If you have, then you know how lonely it can get and how much harder it is to finish the task. But, when you do have a partner—a sidekick, someone who has your back, someone who spots you in the weight room—doesn’t it seem to make you push a little more and work a little harder?

When it comes to living as Christians, the same principle applies. Isn’t it more difficult to talk to a stranger about God when you’re alone? Isn’t it so much more tempting to slip into sin when no one is there to help you fight temptation?

Read the verses from Acts above. Now, I’m not saying we should sell everything, but I am hoping to point out that we should be there for each other. Christians all have God in common. We should express that by doing more than simply waving to each other in public. As brothers and sisters, we should smile and hug, showing thanks that God is in our lives. If we show love and this uncommonly happy attitude toward each other, don’t you think people would become intrigued by what is bringing us the happiness?

Today, let’s express thanks to God in our relationships. If we share His glory together, we have the best backup possible.

Go:

1. What’s our best defense as Christians? What’s our best offense?
2. What are a couple of ways to show God's love for us to others?
3. Are you demonstrating His love in your current interactions with others?
