For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself—a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time.–1 Timothy 2:5-6
In the movie Invincible, the story of Philadelphia Eagles fan-turned-NFL-pro Vince Papale plays out on the big screen. After losing his job and wife, he was told he would never amount to anything, that he wouldn’t make any money, and wasn’t going anywhere.
Some of us have experienced a coach saying, “You’re not talented enough. You won’t make it.” Possibly a coworker, spouse, friend, or parent has caused doubt.
First Timothy 1 states Jesus “gave Himself—a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time.” Even if those around us don’t believe we will amount to anything, God thinks otherwise. He watched as His only Son was brutally killed because He believed in us. Christ endured a horrific death on a cross as a testament to our potential.
The Creator of the universe has a plan and a purpose for our lives. Regardless of our situation, city, home, family, or friends, God wants us to follow His plan. Imagine what life would be like if we were doing exactly what God created us to do?
The lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan Vince Papale wasn’t supposed to make it to the NFL or amount to anything. But in the end, he made it onto the team. He played with the Eagles for three seasons and inspired an entire city.
Jesus Christ paid for us with His life as a testament to what we can become.

Jesus, thank You for being the ransom for my sin. Help me keep my eyes focused on You when people cause me to doubt. You created me for a purpose and I pray that I will honor You with my life. Amen.
