Ready:

"For although we are walking in the flesh, we do not wage war in a fleshly way, since the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." –2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Set:

When I was at the University of Kentucky, my team was expected to win a National Championship every year—and we did. It was the cheerleading team, and I was the mascot. Regardless of the sport, expectations go a long way in determining wins and losses. What about in faith? What are our expectations for winning and losing spiritual battles?

As believers, we fight many battles against the “powers of this dark world” (Ephesians 6:12). The enemy attacks us with lies tempting us to give into sin (James 1:14). What are our expectations in these battles? Do we hope to simply win a few more than we lose, or do we expect dominance? Many Christians have become content with mediocrity. Paul, on the other hand, when writing to the Corinthians, said they “demolished” every lie contrary to God’s truth!

This season, many teams will silently believe their team will lose many games. Many athletes will silently wish for a season of mediocrity, not believing more is possible. Let’s not take that attitude into our spiritual lives. We must expect to dominate our enemy in every battle. Let us truly have the mind-set of a demolisher—someone who believes that he/she is more than a conqueror in Christ!

Go:

1. Why doesn’t it bother us more when Satan wins a battle in our lives?
2. How can you become more offensive against the enemy?
3. What weapons are you to use to demolish the enemy? (See Ephesians 6:10-19.)

Workout:

Romans 8:36-39; 2 Corinthians 10

Overtime:

Father, forgive me for being content with only winning a few more battles than I lose. I want to be a demolisher of every attack that comes against me! Amen.
