No Heart Life
![skit](/sites/fcaresources.com/themes/fcatheme/img/skit.png)
The girl is escorted around the room by the first guy. He then asks her if he can have her heart. She says, “no, I’m not ready yet.” He says’ “Oh come on, everybody is doing it.” The girl gives in and tears ¼ of her heart off and gives it to the guy. He takes it and walks off.
The girl is then escorted around the room by the second guy. He asks her if he can have her heart. Again, she says, “No, I don’t want to go that far.” He says, “If you love me, you will.” She gives in and tars off another ¼ of her heart and gives it to the guy. He walks off.
Process

Back when I was a track athlete, I was blessed to have great coaches who taught me about the need for perseverance and patience throughout the track season. My high school coach used to tell me in meets early in the season, “Right now, you are racing against the clock. Try to be a step faster, and you’re winning. Remember, the race that matters most is the final in League Championships.” My coach understood the big picture and our goals for the season. He sought to build that same sense into me as well so that I could continue progressing, improving each day to reach the ultimate goal. Now that I’m a coach myself (women’s volleyball), I have reflected on this lesson often.
The Master(s)
![devotional](/sites/fcaresources.com/themes/fcatheme/img/devotional.png)
Playing the final round of The Masters yesterday was very fitting for golfer Bubba Watson. For him it was an opportunity to win The Masters for the second time in two years, while playing for his Master, Jesus Christ. Watson defeated Jordan Spieth and Jonas Blixt to win his second major championship. After his first win in 2012, he thanked his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and admitted he didn’t know what to say because as he put it, “I never got this far in my dreams.”
Reaction Game
![team_builder](/sites/fcaresources.com/themes/fcatheme/img/team_builder.png)
Form groups of 6-12 people
Have players create events and write them down on small sheets of paper. Be sure that they don't share these ideas aloud with anyone
Creativity is a MUST for this game :)
Here are some examples of events:
Being attacked by a shark while you're fishing
Hitting a home run that wins the World Series
Winning the lottery
Going on a first date
After everyone is done writing, collect all of the papers and put them in a hat.
Whithin each group, choose 3-4 people to act for each round.
Players will randomly draw from the hat

Key Verse: "Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, 'Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.'" - Proverbs 3:27-29

He kept saying, “I’m not this, or I’m not that.” He could have done something. What story in the Bible does this clip remind you about?

Resolve - Daniel Study - Chapter 2
![bible_study](/sites/fcaresources.com/themes/fcatheme/img/bible_study.png)
Resolve- to decide, to purpose, a firm determination (Webster’s Dictionary)
How important is a firm determination in competition? Resolve comes from an inner conviction that a certain way to go is the right way. As coaches, we have to be convinced that our training program and game plan are going to work. Tony Dungy was resolved to coach his players God’s way because he was convinced it was the right way to go. By doing things God’s way, he was convinced he would also get the best from his players.
Name a person or team that has demonstrated resolve.
How has this person impacted you?

In Over Your Head?
![devotional](/sites/fcaresources.com/themes/fcatheme/img/devotional.png)
Splashing furiously, I tried desperately to outswim my younger sister. As I reached through the water with every ounce of strength in my 16-year-old body, my lungs and muscles burned. I looked up at the clock. She’d beaten me…again. I was crushed. The pain my body experienced couldn’t compare to the pain I felt inside—the jealousy and anger and failure. Nothing mattered except the reality that I had lost to my fiercest competitor.

Second-Half Strong
![devotional](/sites/fcaresources.com/themes/fcatheme/img/devotional.png)
One of the worst feelings in sports is losing after having a big lead. Most of us have been a part of a game in which we got ahead early and then watched a victory slip away. We never see it coming because we become so comfortable with the position we’ve gained that we assume we’re not vulnerable and we slack off. Maybe we play around with the ball in the backfield, or we slow our pace. We might even quit completely or forget some of the fundamentals of the game because of how blind we’ve become.
Human Knot
![icebreaker](/sites/fcaresources.com/themes/fcatheme/img/icebreaker.png)
Divide your group into circles of 10-12 people, each facing inward. Everyone then reaches across with one arm and grabs someone else’s hand, interweaving hands and arm in a random fashion. Do the same for the other hand. Next comes the challenge. Try to get everyone back into a perfect circle while still holding hands. Letting go is not an option. It takes communication, cooperation and a sense of humor. You will need to go through, under, over, etc. people’s arms until you are successful.

Introduction - Daniel Study
![bible_study](/sites/fcaresources.com/themes/fcatheme/img/bible_study.png)
I am excited about the journey you are about to take through the book of Daniel. It is an awesome book with some familiar stories about the lion’s den and fiery furnace. The truths in this book will greatly challenge you in the areas of courage, boldness, faith and security in God alone. I have been greatly humbled by the courage and faith of Daniel, Hanniah, Mishael and Azariah. They were faithful to God from their teens to their 80s. They are great examples and role models for trusting God in tough times. As you study this book, I would like for you to keep in mind several things that will assist your understanding:
Self-Esteem
![devotional](/sites/fcaresources.com/themes/fcatheme/img/devotional.png)
In our efforts to achieve high esteem, many of us try to wear the right clothes, drive the right cars, or have the right cell phones. We figure if we have all of the "right" stuff, we will finally feel good about ourselves. We think our teammates will begin to think we are cool.
The problem with having the right material items is that, in a month, week or even a day’s time, those will no longer be considered cool. That self-image we thought we could purchase will suddenly be gone.
