Ready:

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth…”
Phil. 2:9

Set:

April 13, 2008, was a day that marked a historic change for one man. Trevor Immelman walked up the 18th fairway and, with one final putt, forever altered his life. Before he hit that putt he was known as Trevor Immelman, PGA Tour player. After the putt, he earned the title Trevor Immelman, Masters Champion. That is a worthy goal to which all golfers aspire. Only a few days prior, Immelman had been a virtual unknown, but now he is a household name all over country.

More than 2,000 years ago, one night changed the world forever. In the little town of Bethlehem a baby was born, and his title was King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus was brought into this world, and nothing would ever be the same. Jesus was worthy of the greatest title of all, Savior of the World, and one day every knee will bow to Him. His is a title unmatched forever.

Isn’t it interesting that in several days someone can go from being virtually unknown to someone everyone has to know? The world puts these athletes in the limelight quickly, and just as quickly, we can put them out of our minds, too. While Immelman can and should still enjoy his victory, the newspapers already have moved on. However, when it comes to Christ, His title, His status and His position will never ever change. He is the only One worthy of an eternal title.

In sports, things are supposed to change, and new heroes are supposed to emerge. But with Christ, nothing will ever change. Today, as you look at champions like Immelman, give them proper credit for their accomplishments. But when it comes to Christ, give Him every honor and praise for His worthy title! And never stop.

Go:

1. Have you ever received an honor that changed how people looked at you? Explain?
2. What is your favorite title given to Christ?
3. Today, how can you reflect on Christ and His place in your life?
